5      Thank your funder again.

Phone, visit, or drop a personal note in the mail from you and your students.  Have your students sign the card and/or take a photo holding a big 'thank you' sign. You may also thank your funder in the school newsletter, on the school web site, and anywhere else you can. Whenever you mention verbally or in print your class's MSI program, add a "thanks to the support of [your funder]" to it.

Have your Principal write an official thank you letter for the donation. As high up the ladder as you can get, the better.  

Congratulations!  You got the grant! Reach out and thank your funder!  

4      Receive your check and thank your funder!

Reach out and give your prospects a call. Reiterate how important this MSI program is to your class. Talk about the impact you have seen MSI programs have on past students in your class, and/or talk about how this MSI program would take your teaching to the next level.

3     Follow up on your request.

2     Submit your request/application.

What are the businesses in your area that you could approach with a small request for support of your school's education?

A request of $100 - $1,500 is a feasible local donation that many of your local businesses can make. Think about combining smaller donations from several businesses to get you to your goal.
